Dr. Farahani and her team would love to welcome you to the practice!
With extensive knowledge of the connections between the mouth and body, our clinicians are adept at finding the source of dental problems instead of just treating symptoms. Our goal is to prevent dental disease instead of waiting for a problem and then trying to fix it.
At Harmony Dental Wellness, you will find a peaceful and spa-like environment complete with many amenities provided for your comfort including heated neck wraps, aromatherapy and blankets. We are also an eco-friendly office, which means that we use earth-friendly or organic materials and avoid one-time use plastics whenever possible.
Dr. Farahani is very active in continuing education courses, taking several per month. Dr. Farahani was awarded Fellowship with the Academy Academy of Clear Aligners in June 2021 for her knowledge and expertise.
Outside of the office, Dr. Farahani believes in donating time to help others. Most recently, she is working with the Hope Packs program to provide bags of clothes, toys and other comforts to foster children arriving for the first night in a new home. In 2019 she worked with the Lucy Hobbs Project to empower women in dentistry and has been a local as well as national speaker for them. In 2018, she focused on donating her time with GirlForward here in Austin. GirlForward is a non-profit that provides mentorship services and cultural experiences for newly arrived refugee girls.

Sheila Farahani, DDS, FAACA
Principal Dentist
If you are a new patient with us, let me welcome you and tell you a bit about me. My path to dentistry was winding, but each step along the path provided a foundation for the unique dental practice that we have created here in Austin.
I studied biochemistry as an undergraduate at the University of Washington and went on to post graduate study in coral reef biology before earning a Master's in Teaching degree. I taught high school chemistry and biology for a few years but was frustrated with the red tape of the education system. As a result, I decided to pursue a career in dentistry where I would have the freedom to create my own systems to improve the health and lives of my patients. I feel that my teaching experience fits hand in hand with my dental degree to help me create a partnership with you where you are heard, understood and are an active participant in living your healthiest life. Other random interests of mine include reading science fiction, swing dancing, and the flying trapeze.
With a passion for lifelong learning, I am regularly involved in continuing education courses. I don’t think of these courses as requirements for my license, but rather as opportunities to provide better care for you. In addition to my work in comprehensive, preventive and cosmetic dentistry, an area of concentration in my career has been the treatment of dental anxiety. With a history of severe dental fear in my family, I have completed extensive training to provide accessibility for patients who avoid the dentist due to fear.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Sheila Farahani, DDS

Bio coming soon!
In 2017, my previous dentist replaced 2 crowns on the left side of my mouth. While adjusting the fit, he ground them down so much that my back teeth no longer touched. Instead of offering to fix it by replacing the crowns, he made me think it was normal and my bite would align and be fine. After 4 years, two dentists after that dentist, 2 root canals, immense pain on the right side of my mouth from the constant chewing only on that side, gum recession from the trauma due to my bite being misaligned, and my teeth shifting so that I now need straightening, I found Dr. Farahani while researching dental technology to fix the bite. She was one of the few dentists in the Austin area that had the technology to assess it (other than just bite on the carbon paper and grind side to side).
I went to her in January 2021. Yesterday, she replaced the 2 crowns that started all of this pain & expense, and my teeth finally touch!! I waited until today to write this review to see how my bite would feel after wearing my night guard overnight and after the anesthetic wore off.
I feel normal for the first time in nearly 5 years. I didn't wake to pain. I was able to chew on the left side of my mouth. I started crying when I told my husband that I finally found relief. What's more is that from the time I met her, she really listened to me and agreed with my plan of action to replace the crowns even though I have zero dental training, and she was gentle throughout. I usually have to have multiple numbing injections (I'm a red head and wear off anesthetic quickly), but she numbed me completely and without pain doing it. I can't say enough about her or her staff.
